[linux-dvb] ideas for VDR

hi klaus (+all)

ideas for VDR:

.) it would be great when audio was muted during channel
switching, because now you sometimes have a squeaking sound
when the channel is syncing. if the volume is turned up,
i think my ears will collapse. :))

.) would it be possible to see if a channel can.t be encrypted?
i mean: sometimes VDR (or the as*on CAM) hangs, and i can.t
tell which one. so i have to restart the drivers, for the
CAM to reset. if VDR would check the transfer to/from the CAM,
it could tell me if there is a problem (and maybe reset the
CAM by itself).

.) @ALL: pls send me your scripts for starting/restarting DVB
and VDR. so i can see how you manage this. (maybe you inserted
some sec delay after resarting the driver, or some "killall insmod"
as i did, in case the driver restart didn.t work. as i.m a linux
newbie i only know some "hard ways" to solve problems. but i.d
like to see some more elegant ways. ;)

.) has anyone find a way to implement the daemon "health" in
kernel 2.4.x. i can.t do it, but i would like to monitor my
pc status (temp, fans...). or does somebody know any other
way to do that?

thanx,

servus hannes!
