[linux-dvb] AC3 audio
Hi all,
I know that's a bit off-topic, but it's not too far away, bare with me,
please.
Having received my new Harman/Kardon, I'm eager to get Dolby Digital sound
out of Pro7 and out of the DVDs.
I have searched the web for information on how to get AC3 data out of the
IEC958 (SPDIF) port of soundcards and came across three tools that
promised to do that (AC3IEC958, AC3SPDIF and AC3PLAY). The former two
actually just insert the proper IEC958 AC3 headers into the AC3 bitstream,
AC3PLAY was supposed to do that and in addition put the data onto the
IEC958 port of an alsa-supported soundcard.
I haven't got any of the three solution to work. AC3PLAY seems to be
developed for an old but never released version of alsa (0.6.0, current is
5.1.1 and new is 0.9beta4). The other two tools do their job, however, the
data doesn't get out to SPDIF properly.
My question to you: Has anyone investigated that and has information that
she/he wants to share, so that we get this AC3 thing going with our DVB
cards?
Regards,
Robert
