I had a similar problem with 40 GB on the MSi mobo.
The bios reports 40 GB alright, but linux, after fighting with
fdisk, does this:
/dev/hdd1             32511352  23901236   6958636  77% /video
So it reports 32 GB!
And, as you see, I am due for a new one almost full already :-)
For as far as I see fdisk maxes out by 65535 cylinders....
But since I needed it to work I have not had the time to find what
really happens.
So what is the '40GB clip'??
