"Multimedia Devices"/"Video For Linux" selected (no other modules in
this section have to set unless you have those cards.)

This concerns only full-featured cards. Your card has no video-out so
you won't see anything. The card tunes per default to that frequences,
on those Astra sends German Pro 7 or NTV.

If you get the kernel message "1 dvb(s) found!" the driver has been loaded correctly.

AFAIK there is currently no way to display a video stream realtime from
a low-budget card, because it has no mpeg-decoder onboard. You have to
save the stream via dvbstream and play it then with a software player
like mplayer.
