Although the av7110 <=> saa7146 communication in "dvb-kernel" is in fact 
less monolithic (see the av7110 and budget separation), I admit that 
adding your code to the current base as a separate module is not 
possible any more.

The easiest way is probably to add your code directly to av7110.c, put a 
"int have_msp430_ir" into "struct av7110" and have some "if"s at the 
right place.
