[linux-dvb] compiling for 2.6 kernel and twinhan card

I am trying to compile dvb-kernel for the 2.6.0.-test7 linux kernel.
the README.bt8xx file says for a 2.6 kernel to just checkout the dvb-kernel and do everything as per the README in dvb-kernel.
That README says to do a make menuconfig, I am assuming in my linux kernel tree, and select the av7110 driver.
Do we do this if we only have a twinhan card?
I guess the big question is what does the av7110 driver do? Does it enable a bunch of stuff that is needed for all cards?
I just also noticed that I need a 2.6.0-test8 kernel but I think my question still remains.
thanks
