Hi Andreas,

I' m afraid I have no experience with Gentoo, I use Fedora Core 3 with kernel 
2.6.10 from www.kernel.org; no snapshot, patch or cvs.

My biggest problem was to make udev create the dvb devices when loading 
dvb_bt8xx. I found the solution here: 
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=139097#c3.
There also have to be a few seconds delay between loading dvb_core and 
dvb_bt8xx.
