I am using DVB-S and the new driver.
I have a similar problem: Sometimes during channel switching the
screen remains black and VDR shows no reaction to any remote control
commands (no video, no OSD). Strangely, the watchdog timer does not hit!
Once, I allowed it to sit like that all night and it was unfrozen the
next morning by a timer recording, AFAIR without a restart.
Because of that, I have now defined an irexec command that allows 
me to restart vdr manually. This always works.
Sometimes after the restart I press a channel number digit and that
digit is displayed normally, but then instead of switching to that
channel, the OSD simply stays as it is. When I restart a second time,
things usually work.
Has anyone else observed this?
