this sounds well-known to me. I had the same problem when I used my 2.1
dvb-s card and the Hauppauge IR Remote Control. Since I use an old 1.3 card
as primary card (with lirc_serial) it doesn't crash anymore. I thought it
was a bug in the hauppauge_lirc module.

Later on, I put the 2.1 into the vdr again, as third card (second is a
nova). Regular ARM crashes were following. When I upgraded to a new kernel
version, they suddenly disappeared. A few days ago, they came back :-(
Today, the 2.1 card didn't want record -- emergency exit and so on. I
commented out the emergency exit lines and tried to watch the stream. No
contents. Cables and LNB are ok.

2.1 --> crashes reproducably
1.3 --> no crashes

Might that be your differences, too?

I don't think so. On my K6/II 400@333 the problems were the same as with my
Celeron 1000. Maybe I should underclock (66 MHz x 10) that one, too. But
that would lengthen the divx conversion time enormously... And if it were a
firmware bug -- wouldn't that affect both revisions of dvb-s?

I removed the 2.1 from my system -- now running without any probs, but with
2 possible parallel recordings only. Maybe I should sell the 2.1 via ebay
and look out for a second nova.

Does anyone out there have a 2.1 running without problems?
