[vdr] AW: Re: addign STB-style timeshifting to VDR

Hi all,

after seeing and trying out several different DVB receivers with and without
harddisk i have to say VDR does an exeptional good job. The main problem for
example with my micronik box was, that none of the major bugs was ever fixed
by the manufacturer and softwareprogress was very slow. Thats why i really
like that so many people put so many effort in the VDR project. Many
different needs and wishes make the project go forward. The progress VDR is
making is 10 times faster than any commercial system.

I too have some wishes but am no programmer and therefore can't really help
in this issue. But the more people want more different features, the more
likely it is, that VDR will become what i want and need. That sounds a
little selfish i know :-) So THX to all the contributers here!

I think what Lauri suggested would make VDR even better and think it is a
good idea. I cant really comment on the technical issues of that proposal
but the discussion reminds me of the thread where a modular structure of VDR
was suggested. Purely logical such a structure would help Klaus with his
doubts and fears of VDR not being "straight and clean" and getting too
complex to maintain.

just my 2 cents (we can say this in europe too :-)

I think now VDR (for itselve) works realy great ! - Without any big problems
and itīs nearly perfekt....

But - With this Project you opend Pandoras BOX :-)

Now itīs possible to make anything in your Living-Room (E-Mail, MP3,
DIVx,.....) and
if i look to myselve: I love the VDR and i use it every day - but what i
also like to do is to try new things like the MP3 Patch or the
WEB-Interface.

If iīm able to programm - i have many ideas - what VDR can do in future :-)

I understand the Problem with all the Patches....

And look at me - i still donīt know why VDR deletes all my Recordings (over
500GB) in one
Night) perhaps it was one of the patches wich made anything wrong.... The
risk is at my side....

So just relax and look what people trying to do with "your VDR" and perhaps
you see a feature
wich also you "realy want".....
