[vdr] q: realtime recording in vcd (mpeg1)

hi,

i´ve played a little bit with the mencoder settings in dvbapi.c to get recording in mpeg1 (sound unchanged) instead of divx
it seems that mencoder can only write avi files (with a selectable format inside), so its useless for creating a VCD directly

are there other programms that can be used with vdr to get a vcd recording with realtime transcoding

and btw. any chance that in the future a recording format is selected with the timer (i think that means changing a lot in VDR itself including the timers.conf) - if that make sense
