I have decided to give a try! Since the source compiling gave me some
errors, i've installed the rpms on my redhat 7.3 machine!

the very interesting part is the message that mplaye gave me:

# mplayer -vo mpegpes avseq01.dat
.............

Playing avseq01.dat
Cache fill: 0.00% (0 bytes) Detected MPEG-PS file format!
VIDEO:  MPEG1  352x288  (aspect 8)  25.00 fps  1400.0 kbps (175.0 kbyte/s)
==========================================================================
Detected audio codec: [mp3] afm:mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)
Opening audio decoder: [mp3lib] MPEG layer-2, layer-3
AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, sfmt: 0x10 (2 bps), ratio: 28000->176400 (224.0
kbit)
vo_mpegpes: Read-only file system
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device!

Exiting... (End of file)

the ReadOnly file system looks like the "Operation not permited" that I
got on the cp ..... /dev/ost/video

I am running cp and mplayer as root and the drivers were just reloaded and
no dvb application is running
