That's what I am using at home. My Server is using VDR with alternate 
driver. Timers are programmed using vdradmin.pl web pages.
An old PC is used to replay recordings including OSD subtitles with 
Convergence Driver.

There is no problem with TT Firmware. Aston CAM is detected right after 
insmod.

Subtitles are written as text files using SUBRIP format. It can be 
converted to any format as PTS values are used to sync subtitles with Video.

At least for Canal+ channels, 720x576 is a DVD compliant stream. But 
very often broadcasts are using 544x576 which is not.
