[vdr] Again: How many satellite cables needed?

Thanks for the two answers I already got.

Sorry but I don't get the one matching answer together with what I find in the internet. Here are some links that say that time shift is only possible with an additional DVB-Card:
http://www.linuxdvb.tv/cgi-bin/fom?_recurse=1&file=12#file_16
http://archiv.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/2002/0017/data/vortrag.html
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/ps-08.04.02-000/
http://www.linux-ag.de/news/linux-firmenbrief/no35.html#Thema8

I would be happy if I got a reply by a VDR user who has only one DVB card (which?!) and can definitely make time shift or simultaneous record and replay.

If the links above are right, that means 2 DVB cards are needed for time shift, here again my questions:

With my hardware (Pentium III 1000MHz, 256 MB RAM) would it be possible to replay by software and use only one DVB card for recording? If yes, which software?

If no (that means that I need 2 DVB cards for time-shift):

How many cables do I need from the roof to my PC? This question is important for me because I have to pay either 1/2 or 2/3 of the total cost of about 500 EUR for the whole satellite equipment shared with one other participant who has only 1 cable.

If only 1 cable is necessary, is it possible to always connect it to the 1st card, so that I don't need to change the plugging?
Is it right that the 1st card then must have an MPEG decoder and the 2nd too?
Or is it possible to always receive by the 1st card without MPEG decoder and to watch (from air or disk) by the 2nd card with MPEG decoder but without satellite cable?

Thanks for answers matching my questions.

Walter
