The emu10k1 on SB Live! xxx is a programmable DSP.

The emu10k1-project provides a sourcecode originally published by
Creative under GPL which has been further developed by the
emu10k1-project.

They even provide a compiler for the emu10k1. So you can write your on
sound modules and load them into the emu10k1 legally.
