Since it was me sticking my oar in that seemed to start all this I 
thought I'd pass on what I've done too !

I made the remux.c changes with no really noticeable improvement, so I 
started moving this code around
to see where it would have a real effect, I found a place in remux.c 
where it at least made things different
(mostly better, but then after a few channel changes I could end up with 
two channels in mosaic form on
the screen at once), so I got rid of that...

I then tried the av7110.c driver change and this really did make a 
difference, the black screen
problem does seem to have gone - but (of course) I now have a different 
issue, one that I have
*never* seen before (but it seems many others have); now I get arm 
crashes, repeatedly; after running
for a while (where while is an hour, or two). So the fix definitely is 
triggering another problem.

(But it's obviously a huge step in the right direction for me, so THANK 
YOU VERY MUCH so far)
