Hi Sven,
something is not right when using the Backward play with your plugin.
Try the following:
Start playing the movie from a DVD.
-skip a few chapters forward.
-play
-fast-forward a few seconds
-play
-rewind a few seconds

At the last point the rewind does not simply run backwards but it jumps 
about a few minutes back before it rewinds.

I tried this with the Two Towers DVD.
I skiped forward till about an hour,
played it a few seonds,
fast forwarded a few seconds,
played it again and
then I played it backwards.
At this point it jumped back around 6 minutes before actually playing 
backwards.
