by "normally" he means (so I assume) the TV out of the full featured DVB
card. (since VDR was originally designed for such cards)

nowadays, there are several possibilities for the "output device". One of
them is of course the full featured DVB card. One other is a DXR3 MPEG
decoder card (I think, they are also called Hollywood). There were others
recently like "Software Output device", which is able to produce the
output on a framebuffer capable console. I think, there are others as well
(like xine output plugin, streaming plugin, ond probably others)

So my nebula card is not considered a full feature card ?
