It's just a matter of time, which I don't have right now (at least
not for this matter).

All I want to do is to make sure nobody stumbles over this while
his VDR is already running. I'm not saying that I'll ignore what
people are doing to actually fix the NPTL problems. I just can't
do any testing myself at this time, and the suggested changes are
IMO too much to simply "throw them in" without testing them myself.

If you prefer, I can just as well leave this security check out.
Then VDR will first "seem" to run on an NPTL system and hang later.
