2004-07-28   DVB major device number has changed

DVB major device number has changed from 250 to 212

Due to the limited range of available device numbers in the 2.4 kernel, DVB driver had to use one of those marked for "local/experimental use". LANANA finally assigned an official major device number to DVB, which we use from now on in all 2.4 and 2.6 drivers.

If you use neither udev nor devfs you have to recreate the DVB device nodes by running the MAKEDEV-DVB.sh script. If you fail to do this you will get ENXIO ("No such device or address") errors when trying to open the devices.
