Look at dmesg. A succesfull init should end up with "registering frontend 0".
Depending on your dev system, you may have to create the device' nodes. There 
is a MAKEDEV-DVB.sh script in dvb-kernel cvs.

KaxTV is obsolete. It was a temporary fork of Kaffeine.
