[linux-dvb] Avermedia DVB-T 771 mt352_read_register error

Hi,
I'm hoping someone here can help me with this problem - I seem to have
trawled through tons of archived posts trying all suggestions but have
had no success.

When attempting to load the dvb-bt8xx module for my AverMedia 771 DVB-T
card I get the following error in my dmesg output:

DVB: registering new adapter (bttv0).
mt352_read_register: readreg error (reg=127, ret==-5)
dvb-bt8xx: A frontend driver was not found for device 109e/0878
subsystem 1461/0771

The card is currently plugged into an Asus A7S8X-MX motherboard but I
have the same problem on my Abit VA-20 motherboard (both Socket-A AMD
462 MicroATX). After doing hours of fiddling around I have noticed that
removing the GeForce MX 4000 card from the AGP slot will allow the
driver to load.

I have tried the following but to no avail, the only thing that works is
removing the NVidia card from the AGP slot (which I need for TV-Out etc):

- Reseated the card in the same PCI slot
- Tried the card in every other PCI slot on both mobos
- Tried standard Fedora Core 4 kernels (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 and
2.6.14-1.1656_FC4)- Compiled custom kernel from kernel.org with patches
from linuxtv.org (2.6.12)
- Booted machine with kernel parameters pci=noacpi, pci=routeirq as well
as manyothers as suggested in previous postings.
- Booted with Plug&Play OS option in BIOS both enabled and disabled.
- Tried an two alternate (perfectly functioning) AGP cards (both recent
NVidia) and still get the error.
- Disabled *every* piece of onboard hardware in the BIOS, just run with
Avermedia card and Nvidia AGP cardi, with no success.

I am completely at a loss and would really appreciate any help, I've
tried all I can think of! Must also say that the DVB-T card works
perfectly in my main system (Asus A8V Deluxe Socket 939) with both the
Fedora Core kernels mentioned above, the only thing I can think of is
thats its a mobo/BIOS problem or something within the mt352 driver.

Full dmesg output:

There are other posts of people with similar problems with the mt352
frontend for this card - its just that none of the solutions have worked
for me.

The whole point of this project was to build a low cost linux PVR as a
side project and I really dont want to have to put Windoze Media Center
on it or worse still sell the hardware, so any help would be greatly
received.

Cheers,
Mike
