No answer to my previous question, but digging further back into the
archives I found this post:

This seems related. There where other posts about KNC1 DVB-S cards, but the
errors posted don't seem to match what I experience. My programming skills
are too limited to really understand what to try next based on the advice
given in the above post. So if someone could help me out, that would greatly
be appreciated.
