I bought the same card about 1 year ago and the card is running out of 
the box in Ubuntu.

lspci -v gives me:

05:07.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
         Subsystem: TERRATEC Electronic GmbH Unknown device 1156
         Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 74
         Memory at d100a000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512]

Note the "Unknown device".

Mybe this http://www.kaiser-linux.li/index.php/DVB-C is interesting, too?
