First, thanks Darren for reply and sorry about lack of information.
card is conexant based.

kubuntu kernel is 2.6.17-10-386

at least that cx22702 was not automaticly loaded, if it is needed with 
conexant chip?

i am planning to install myth TV when i get this card working, so i checked 
installation guides and
from messages file only the first line below was found, registering lines 
were not found.

grep DVB  /var/log/messages

So I need help to pinpoint what is causing problem or how to solve this.
