A feature of SetTopBoxes that allows broadcasts of received transmissions or stored Recordings over Ethernet or WLAN to other media clients.

Commonly, this capability is provided in Media Centre or HTPC receivers.

VLC media player is one open-source client which can accept audio and video streams via local-area network.

The Hauppauge MediaMVP is a Linux-based embedded diskless workstation which was created solely to display audio, video and still images from streaming servers or from network-attached storage. A special-purpose device, it has no disc drives and no tuners of its own.
