I don't remember who in here I was talking to about that
It was a while back There it is :D http://git.linuxtv.org/cgit.cgi/media_tree.git/commit/?id=856260a57cdfa5c121c7b7a6e816409bab07885c mchehab, Thanks for committing that in :) | [12:24]

Ok weird issue. I've tried a couple different USB ports, plugged into powered hub, straight into computer, but my HVR-850 tuner (xc5000) is having some weird glitches in the v4l output. Happens in both tvtime and VLC so I think it's either a driver issue or maybe my USB bus in geeneral is borked. I don't have another machine to test on at the moment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZP0YbMwjp8
Linux rcvrd 4.1.3-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jul 22 20:37:12 CEST 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux I've also thought it might be bad cable. Sometimes the screens almost all green until I unplug and plug the composite adapter back it *screen's So I'm not quite sure whats' going on *what's Ooops I see #v4l might be better suited for this | [14:37]

Parker_ | :/ xc5000 still seems to be doing memory corruption. I tried to play in VLC and was getting a "Cannot allocate memory" error from VLC cli output. That exited fine and then I launched tvtime and it went green, then blue, then the whole system froze | [15:32] |

syntroPi | Hey guys im trying to get a channels.conf with w_scan, but for some reason it always hangs on the same transponder "no data from NIT(other) after 51 seconds... How would i prevent that and have it continue scanning?
its DVB-C and the usb stick is pctv nano 520e i ran this command as root: "w_scan -v -fc -c DE -X -R 0 -T 1 -O 0 -E 0 -F -t 2" can i somehow specify a timeout so if w_scan hits it it just will ignore and continue scanning? | [16:36] |
ParkerR_ | syntroPi, you already have tuning timeout in your command
Im not sure why it would be throwing that error | [16:49] |
syntroPi, -F Long filter timeout for reading data from hardware.
Maybe take that away? | [16:57]
syntroPi | ParkerR_, yeah i tried that before with same result, hence i thought it might help to add that
it seems to hang indefinitely after that "Info: no data from NIT(other) after 51 seconds" when i ctrl+c it just exits without any transponders output it worked before though, i upgraded to ubuntu 15.04 and now i cant scan sucessfully anymore :-/ ParkerR_, is there a more sophisticated/modern tool for scanning dvb-c these days? | [17:05] |
..... (idle for 23mn) | ||
some guys from #ubuntu recommended dvb-apps /usr/bin/dvbscan
is that more modern than w_scan? | [17:33]
...... (idle for 28mn) | ||
ParkerR_ | syntroPi, No idea. Ive always used w_scan. w_scan -fa -A1 -c US -L > vlc.xspf | [18:02] |
mchehab | dvbscan is really old stuff | [18:03] |
ParkerR_ | Yeah I was thinking w_scan was at least a little newer | [18:03] |
syntroPi | well it afaik it was the only one that was able to produce a working channels.conf with my pctv usb nano 520e stick but now it just freezes... i guess i will need to buy another adapter then
:-/ i tried to scan with "-t 1", "-t 2" and "-t 3" | [18:10] |

ParkerR_ | syntroPi, Join the club. I love my HVR-850 to death but its seriously in need of replacing
Preferrably something with an H264 encoder built in Ive been eyeing http://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-1192-HVR-1955-External-Recorder/dp/B00198MYB0/ External power supply is also a big plus | [18:39] |
Ogod it got worse :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCZBD-he_eI
Weirdly enough it does work in Windows just fine Furthir leading me to believe bad USB bus on the Linux laptop/driver issue *Furthur The annoying thing that is in Windows even with game mode enabled (disables any buffering) it still lags quite a bit | [18:51]
syntroPi | hmm aint there some dbv-c2 standards emerging?
ParkerR_, hmm aint that device buffering internally by itself? | [18:56] |
ParkerR_ | Might be
But in Linux when its working the delay is much less Which is why Im kinda bummed out :( | [19:01] |
syntroPi | i was quite happy with my usb pctv nano 520e stick its so sad it stopped working
well the stick is still working but w_scan or its backends are broken | [19:02] |
ParkerR_ | syntroPi, Have you tried mythtv/tvheadend?
The latter is much easier to get setup Both support DVB from what Ive used Also Id love my tuner a lot more but ATSC reception in my area is crap I have to be outside to get decent signal. Kinda defeats trying just to watch something inside to pass the time | [19:05] |
syntroPi, Ive had some good times with this tuner https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAA1E9FF250BDEAF3
Wait thats not all Xbox videos lol | [19:14] |
