has any of you ever needed to connect a HDMI2.0 video source to a HDMI1.4a complient receiver (in this case a frame grabber). Are there any converters to downgrade from HDMI2.0 to HDMI1.4a?

stuartmit is, and besides which, you won't find very many video sources than HDMI1.4 can't handle currently - the limitations of 1.4 all relate to 4K (HDR and high framerate)
in other words, while the source may support HDMI 2.0, it's probably not the case that the content _requires_ it
... unless you're trying to strip the DRM from 4k Bluray by sending it to a capture device (which would be both unachievable due to HDCP and illegal)
