iive | the support for model *90 has been recently added.
it means somebody is (still) working on it. Olli Salonen | [00:01] |
jik1 | Ah, I see.
I misunderstood you earlier. Sorry. You're saying that the newer kernel supports the 1590 but not the 1595. So maybe I need to contact Olli Salonen and see if he wants to take me up on my offer to make the 1595 work in exchange for a free one. ;-) | [00:02] |
iive | yes, his email is in the commit message.
in the "Drivers" paragraph. no, i don't see 0x2040:0x026d in em28xx-cards.c on 4.8rc | [00:05] |
andrey_utkin | iive what about checking in linux-next? | [00:07] |
iive | andrey_utkin: i don't remember where that was...
linuxtv have its own branch with more experimental stuff... | [00:07] |
andrey_utkin | http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git/
yea also media tree is worth checking https://git.linuxtv.org/media_tree.git | [00:08] |
iive | don't see 26d either :(
sorry gtg. wish you luck. | [00:11] |
jik1 | thanks | [00:13] |
Well, for anyone who's still here and scanning this chat after the fact, I'll repeat and up my offer: If you think you can get the TV tuner referenced above (note: *both* tuners in the device, not just the first one) to work with Linux, then I will either give you the tuner for free, or donate $300 to an IRS-recognized 501(c)3 charity of your choice, or pay you $200 via Paypal. Your choice. ;-)
I don't know what the etiquette is about posting email addresses in this chat room, but if you want to contact me, you can google "Jonathan Kamens" and you won't have any trouble finding my email address. (Also, I can give you remote access to the machine I have the device plugged into, so I imagine I don't have to actually send you the tuner for you to be able to work on making it work.) | [00:19]
andrey_utkin | jik1, your best bet would be contacting Olli Salonen if iive's info is correct
email him | [00:22] |
jik1 | Already emailed him. | [00:22] |
andrey_utkin | great ) | [00:22] |
jik1 | Don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. | [00:22] |
andrey_utkin | you could also email to linux-media@vger.kernel.org maillist | [00:22] |
jik1 | Working on that as well.
Figure I need to subscribe before I email, but the server is being radio silent about my subscription request. | [00:22] |
andrey_utkin | sorry but i know nothing about dvb tuners even at user level
jik1, you are not required to be subscribed actually you don't want to receive all the traffic from there | [00:23] |
jik1 | I don't know, it just seems rude to me to email a mailing list when you're not subscribed to it. Is that an accepted thing on that particular list? | [00:24] |
andrey_utkin | yes
you'll receive replies because you'll be on recipients list for replies on that thread :) | [00:24] |
jik1 | thanks again for your help.
I'll fire off some emails and see if anybody takes the bait. ;-) | [00:38] |

gnac | I purchased a WinTV-HVR-2255 to replace a broken WinTV-HVR-2250. I upgraded my OS to the latest stable, but it only has kernel 4.1.27, not 4.2 which has official support for this device.
Is it possible to patch the current driver to support this device? I had to patch the previous driver to address an I2C issue. | [04:02] |
or rather a PCI interupt issue. | [04:07]
