ahillehey, i have a question: if i use v4l2-ctl --all and i get "width/height : 0/0" and "Frames per second : invalid (0/0), can i assume that my videocamera isnt working correctly, or what reason could exist for that? [08:50]
jmleoahille, you can probably assume the driver of your camera is not compliant with v4l2
you can use v4l2-compliance tool to test it
it sounds like default value for the camera is not set
[08:54]
ahillejmleo, could u tell me if and how i could change the the default value in a way that it works out? or cant i use v4l2 at all for that camera if v4l2-compilance says "Not Supported" mutliple times [08:59]
jmleowhat is the camera model [09:00]
ahillecan i loo,k that up somewhere? im afraid i dont myself :/ [09:02]
jmleoahille, is it a usb camera ? lsusb is a start [09:02]
ahilleno, its an integrated camera
i guess intern the camera is called atomisp-css2400b0_v21, judging from the dmesg output
[09:03]
jmleowhat is your kernel version (uname -a)
oh, is it something like a chromebook or android based ?
[09:06]
ahilleno, its an tablet using centos
its an x86_64 kernel
as centos cant other then 64-bit
[09:09]
..... (idle for 20mn)
lyakhwow, was centos preinstalled on that tablet? [09:31]
ahilleno, it usually uses windows, due to that im not quite sure IF there is a way to use this camera, beside that someone had to write it first [09:41]
lyakhhm, but where does that atomisp then come from? I don't see such a V4L driver in the mainline
ok, I see some out-of-tree drivers for that on the internet
[09:47]
ahillewell, i dont know if thats important, but im using a custom kernel, but i cant give you specific details, as it was given to me by a colleague, mayby thats where it comes from :/ [09:53]
jmleoyes, sounds like a out-of-tree driver, so, here is your issue... [10:00]
lyakhRight, so, that kernel uses an out-of-tree V4L driver for the Atom ISP camera bridge, and that driver doesn't seem to work very well for you, that's all I can tell you, sorry. Don't know what your goal is - either you want to start a large-scale debugging and development effort with this, or you just plug in a webcam and forget the built in one [10:00]
