kbingham: I have tried my best to get the data sheet for my chip but the closest i could find was this: http://doc.xuehai.net/s3474ef937f67468080b60385.html , a "Brief Spec" is what they chose to call it. Video input supported: Support legacy S-Video and Composite video decode, is one of the things they mention. After some (a lot) of googling last night, I think I found out that eMPIA got bought out by Standwell
Technology. According to Standwell Technology's website (http://www.standwell.cn/en/product.asp?cid=178), the chip I have (em28386d) is under the same category as the em2860. The em2860 is contained in the em28xx-cards.c driver. I don't know if that will help me, but I am looking at that part of the code now, to see if can gain some insight.
kbingham: If my input is HDMI, then i have a digital input. It wouldn't matter if the empia chip i have has analog capabilities, right? All the 2860 entries either use s-video, composite or television as an input
i'm trying to figure out what is meant by television
where can I find the format ref?
looks like this diseasy is spreading from the V4L2 dirs... :-)
