good day folks
can anybody help a noob with a BT878 card problem ?
hverkuil, sailus, pinchartl: just sent a version 6 of the documentation patch series. IMO, the only pending item there is the wording for "hardware periferal" and vdev-centric
let's see if we can reach a consensus about it today, as otherwise I'll give up trying to push it - at least before the end of the merge window
I have to leave in 1 hour and will be unavailable for the remainder of the day.
mchehab: please note that you keep writing 'periferal' instead of 'peripheral'. Should we decide to keep 'hardware peripheral' as terminology then you need to do a search-and-replace :-)
IMO, "V4L2 hardware peripheral" should just be called "V4L2 hardware" (or possibly "media hardware", but since this is part of the V4L2 spec I think V4L2 hardware is best)
I prefer V4L2-centric over vdev-centric, but I will also be OK with vdevnode-centric. 'vdev' is just too vague and confusing. Same for VDN-centric. 'VDN' sounds like the name of a political party :-)
hverkuil: yeah, on portuguese, this word uses "f"
I end by typing it wrong from time to time
mchehab: I suspected something like that.
my preference would be to be either peripheral (without "hardware") or "media hardware", but I can live with "V4L2 hardware"
vdevnode-centric or vdev-centric is OK for me
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peripheral
According to that definition the term "peripheral" is definitely not suited for this.
I read the same text and understood different than you :-)
anyway, as I said, I'm OK with "media hardware"
IMHO, "V4L2 hardware" is not precise, as the same hardware is also exposed to MC (with is not V4L2) and eventually to DVB (with is also not V4L2)
so, IMHO, "media hardware" fits better than "V4L2 hardware"
need to go. bbl
is this the right place to ask about cx18 load problems on Ubuntu 17.04?
