WhoWhatWhen
kbinghamsailus, hehe maybe :) - I don't think my ISP is going to give us v6 anytime soon. I assume it's just a small dns update needed. [09:55]
........ (idle for 39mn)
pinchartlkbingham: your ISP still doesn't provide ipv6 ? [10:34]
pH5kbingham: just out of interest, what happened to the async uvc processing patches? are they abandoned or in limbo? [10:34]
kbinghampH5, Not abandoned ... just in limbo ...
pH5, I hear lots of people are likeing them so they really need to get in!
[10:36]
..... (idle for 24mn)
pH5ok, thanks [11:00]
kbinghamkbingham digs out sources/linux/uvc-async :) The question is - was it blcoked on me - or pinchartl :) [11:01]
bah - it's on me.
kbingham gets to work.
[11:10]
pinchartlpinchartl breathes again [11:13]
....................................................... (idle for 4h30mn)
ezequielgkbingham: +1 [15:43]
kbinghamezequielg, :D
Seems it's taken longer than I have today - but I'll get the updated patches out tomorrow.
[15:48]
ezequielgor you can just skip sleeping and eating, you know... [15:51]
kbinghamezequielg, Well - *I* can ... but it's generally frowned upon to prevent my 1 year old from doing the same :-)
these kids ... so demanding ... wanting 'food' and 'attention' :)
[15:52]
ezequielgback in the day, my dad would just slapped me when i asked for 'attention' [15:53]
mripardkbingham: so, cats, basically? [15:53]
kbinghammripard, Bah - cats are easy. You can let them do whatever they want. Although I don't recommend trying to put a nappy on a cat. ... they don't like that. Then again ... neither does Hugo :) [15:54]
ezequielghverkuil: can we add a parameter to v4l2-compliance to specify a driver by name, instead of by path?
that would make testing much easier on the CI side
[16:07]
hverkuilOne driver can have a lot of devices. How would you propose to handle that? BTW, v4l2-ctl --list-devices already has something that comes close.
Let's discuss this tomorrow, I have to go.
[16:12]
ezequielgright. this needs some discussion. [16:17]
................................... (idle for 2h50mn)
kbinghamI had wondered if some sort of /dev/video/by-name/ might be useful sometime (as in like /dev/serial/by-id, /dev/serial/by-path) "/dev/videoN" can be hard to parse at times :D [19:07]
pH5kbingham: don't you have /lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-v4l.rules from systemd udev?
it has by-path and by-id (for usb) links
on embedded systems I like to use a custom udev rule to give short names to some of the hardwired devices
like /dev/by-name/csi for the one capture interface out of $many that I actually use all the time
[19:14]
kbinghampH5, I do not - but now I know what to look for :) thanks
pH5, Aha - I have it on my laptop though :)
[19:23]
