tfiga: It's a 4650g APU with Vega GPU
And there is some unknown DP to HDMI bridge there
Which I wanted to test whether CEC is wired there
Inky1003: If anyone could tell me what analog video (composite) capture card works well on linux I would be thankful.
 ezequielg: Inky1003: pci or usb?
 Inky1003: usb
ezequielg: also, It would be good If It supports NTSC and PAL-M
ezequielg: Inky1003: well, stk1160 based dongles works fairly well afaik.
Inky1003: I mean... i'm afraid of buying a easycap. Aren't there any other alternatives?
ezequielg: I bought some months ago an EasyCap which works as an UVC. Unluckly It broke.
also, It was not good. It simply didn't got my video well, only NTSC and only composite, and not svideo
ezequielg: dunno, i only have those and one em28xx.
Inky1003: stk1160 should support pal-m, and svideo iirc.
iirc, pal-m is the one here in southamerica, so i think i tested that.
Inky1003: ezequielg: how do I find any device with that chip?
 ezequielg: maybe ebay stk1160?
https://www.ebay.es/itm/USB-2-0-Audio-Video-Capture-Grabber-VHS-to-DVD-Konverter-Adapter-Software-neu/124473648184?hash=item1cfb352438:g:AFQAAOSwYvNfyOEA ?
Inky1003: hmm... I'll guess out... thanks!
ezequielg: guess you may need to buy a few.
do you plan to connect this to an ARM device or some x86 PC?
Inky1003: ^ -- and if you have issues with skt1160, please send a mail to linux-media and Cc. that has better chances of getting you help.
Inky1003: uhm... I plan to use on my x64, but also going to buy a RPi to bring to travelings and use It.
ezequielg: well, be careful with assuming usb throughput is the same on ARM vs. x86.
that is entirely relying on the USB controllers capabilities.
video capture devices uses a special kind of USB transfers, different than storage transfers, and not all drivers/hardware will support that properly.
(and raw video needs quite a lot of bandwidth)
that said, there are some patches in the DMA area that might improve the situation ...
Inky1003: Oh... I see... Also, a last question, do the DC60 uses the stk1160 chip?
 ezequielg: in theory, yes.
but there are so many clones out there, i don't think you can ever be sure of what you are getting.
Inky1003: that's why I'm asking. I want a reliable capture card I could buy with guarantee I'll have linux support.
ezequielg: well, buy until you get stk1160 :)
Inky1003: But what do I do with the non-stk ones?
ezequielg: I don't really know what you are asking. These devices have official windows support. The Linux support is provided by the community, completely for free, as "best effort". We are doing our best :)
Inky1003: I'm sorry, but... I don't think so... None of my capture cards works on linux. I have an Mygica U6813, a Mygica EzGrabber2, a USB007 odd HDMI capture, and I had an Easycap.
I've came to linuxtv.org many times, and I just bought my Mygica EzGrabber 2 because of the "support" It had on linux, and... nothing.
also, my Mygica U6813 has a Trident 6010 with tries to show a video, with green bars. I tried to go here also with no success of having my capture card to work.
I'm losing money. I can't relax with a working capture card on Linux because I can't find any... Sorry... :(
I mean, I see that you make your efforts to make drivers, but..
I don't know... It does not make sense to keep buying capture cards when only one will be the one I'll be using... The prices vary and I don't have too much money.
ezequielg: then use windows and use the official drivers :)
Inky1003: I mean... that would be kinda wrong, as I have no windows license.
well... I found a link. It seems like It's a stk 1160 device.
ezequielg: thanks anyway... despite what I said, you just made a driver for something you're not obligated to.
