jernej | dwlsalmeida: I'm updating HEVC request API patches and I wonder, if there is any difference between pic_order_cnt_val (decode params) and slice_pic_order_cnt (slice params)? | [06:48] |
ndufresne ^
I see that hantro G2 uses pic_order_cnt_val and Cedrus slice_pic_order_cnt | [06:53]

ezequielg | jernej: keep in mind the HEVC controls are very much in need of reviewing. | [15:08] |
jernej: IMO v4l2_ctrl_hevc_slice_params.slice_pic_order_cnt should match slice_pic_order_cnt_lsb, and should be moved to v4l2_ctrl_hevc_decode_params since it's a slice invariant. What do you think?
And pic_order_cnt_val corresponds to PicOrderCntVal. This should be better specified and documented. | [15:14]
Let me know if you agree and I can cook a patch -- unless you beat me to it. | [15:27]
.... (idle for 15mn) | ||
jernej | ezequielg: I'm pretty much aware that HEVC controls need review
I'm just curious what is the difference between these two values but if I understand correctly poc used by cedrus is not same as pic_order_cnt_lsb, but some derived value from it | [15:42] |

ndufresne | jernej: ezequielg: pic_order_cbt_lsb is likely meaningless for any of the HW, it's only purpose is to use less bits, but everything else should use the computed value (camel case) and our API should pass that calculated value, since you need some state to translate
What need to be checked, is if effectively it's invariant per frame, but I'm pretty sure it is Just like ezequielg did for h264, this draft is to garter all needed parameters, next step is to go over each of them (reading spec) and sorting then between decode_params (frame) and slice_params | [20:51] |
