satstuff not okay! is it the way the inet addr is allocated?
[ Part 1, Text/PLAIN 60 lines. ]
[ Unable to print this part. ]
I tried it and got the same results as before...
can't get a ping response. On any of the transponders.
First of all, when i load dvbd, the sound dissappears completely.
ifconfig gives me a good dvb0 card:
dvb0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:D0:5C:00:BE:44
inet addr:192.168.4.1 Bcast:192.168.4.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
and the modules seem to be loading allright:

Now, when I ping 192.168.4.1 and tcpdump -i dvb0 in another terminal, i
see nothing!
When I tcpdump -i lo i see:
4:55:03.870165 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo request
14:55:03.870165 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo request
14:55:03.870210 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo reply
14:55:03.870210 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo reply
14:55:04.870186 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo request
14:55:04.870186 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo request
14:55:04.870233 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo reply
14:55:04.870233 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.1: icmp: echo reply
(as expected).
However, when i ping 192.168.4.0, i get no ping reply, but on tcpdump -i
dvb0 i get:
tcpdump: listening on dvb0
14:56:19.300198 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.0: icmp: echo request
14:56:20.300182 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.0: icmp: echo request
14:56:21.300695 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.0: icmp: echo request
14:56:22.300198 192.168.4.1 > 192.168.4.0: icmp: echo request
and on tcpdump i- lo i get nothing!
so something seems to be going wrong with the dvb0 interface i guess
Finally, in iptraf, it sees lo, ppp0 and eth0 as interfaces to be
monitored, but significantly NO dvb0!
Draw your own conclusions... I have no idea anymore... I've done this
with the entire firewall taken down as well...
cheers,
Robin Edgar
