[linux-dvb] VDR fast forward problem

In order to further investigate the fast forward problem in VDR 0.80pre6
with the latest driver it would be nice if some of you could make the
following experiment to see whether this problem is reproduceable:

Definitions:

* The OLD system shall be driver 0.8.2 and VDR 0.72 (with whatever kernel
it runs on - here I am using kernel 2.2.13 from SuSE 6.3)

* The NEW system shall be the latest CVS driver and VDR 0.80pre6 (with
  kernel 2.4.x - here I am using kernel 2.4.0 from SuSE 7.1)

Step by step instructions:

1. Start the OLD system and make a recording of a few minutes length.
This should be a recording with objects moving around on the screen
(just a news speaker would be a bad example).

2. Replay this OLD recording on the OLD system and do "Fast Forward"
by pressing the "Right" button while replaying. Note that the objects
   are moving fast and smoothly.

3. Start the NEW system and make a recording similar to that in step 1.

4. Replay this NEW recording on the NEW system as described in step 2.
Note that here the objects are not moving as smooth as in step 2.
Also, it would appear that the overall speed is slower than in step 2.
Looks like the frames are displayed a little longer here than on the
   OLD system.

5. Now replay the OLD recording on the NEW system and test "Fast Forward"
again. Here the objects move just as smooth and fast as in step 2.

6. Replay the NEW recording on the OLD system. Again, as in step 5, the
   movements are fast and smooth.

Now for the tricky question: whose fault is it? The driver or VDR?

Since the OLD system can replay both OLD and NEW recordings fine, and the
NEW system can replay OLD recordings fine, but NEW ones only with problems,
I would assume that there must be some difference in the file formats.
But then why doesn't this affect the OLD system?

Can anybody reproduce these observations and maybe come up with an idea
how to fix this?
