The undecoded AC3-stream is usually 384 kbps big, if you decode it it
grows to 6 channels x 48 kHz x 18 bits = 5.184 Mbps. But which device do
you want to decode the stream if you cannot send it to an external
device as stated above? 

I hope this posting helps a little, and BTW you can verify the data at
www.dolby.org in the tech section. Perhaps you find a solution for the
problem as well.
