Time To Live ?

Hi all,

I am not sure but cannot remember that I deleted a movie,
recorded in May. Now it's gone ...

Is it possible that it is automacially deleted after time -
if so, how/where can I modify that after recording (when
archiving the record) 
Is there a lid I can break out ;-) like on
good old videotapes ...
