Without remultiplexing.

You can instead start a recording with VDR and start viewing it with
mplayer. You can then pause and rewind. As I just found out it seems to
check the filesize at startup and complains (exits) when trying to fast
forward beyond the size of the file at startup time.
This of course sucks. But it's at least a step in the right direction. And
updating the file size information when fast forwarding shouldn't be to
hard to implement.
And I didn't find any software player yet that could replay recordings
without remultiplexing.
