I can't reproduce that. I've currently only the nova built in and use
the today's cvs.

x.c and x2.c run without problems. x2 goes up to 380000 and more.

While running x* I get a lot of kernel messages like

vbeirq 00000200

I've changed nothing in the source but the device number.
