[linux-dvb] Dropped "frames?" and modules.conf

Hi all!

I've been using the NEWSTRUCT cvs driver with 2.4.20-pre1-ac3 since I was
having problems with 2.4.18 + the last released drivers but the problem
doesn't seem to have gone.

I'm using (and I suppose this isn't the best way to do this) dvbstream
(with the NEWSTRUCT patch sent to the list a short while ago) to watch tv
channels with MPlayer...

I notice that every so often the data leaving dumprtp is momentarily
corrupted or fragments are missing.. These appear on mplayer as either a
squeek in the audio and/or a visual artifact on the display.

Previously with the stock drivers on average ten minutes into a view I'd
see a visual artifact and the audio would disappear.

Further analysis seemed to suggest some data in the TS stream was broken
and mplex would have a good go at converting the stream into something
else (pes for example) but the audio would disappear at this corrupted
point.

Does anyone know what this might be, or where I should be looking to find
out.. What information should I have included in this email.

I'm using a WinTV Nova-t PCI card and I have a substantial aerial pointing
at one of the strongest transmitters in the UK, which luckily is just up
the road ;)

I doubt it is signal strength since I am fairly certain I have been able
to watch without these problems previously, though I have never tested the
card under MS windows.

Also, on another note

does anyone have a suitable modules.conf entry for loading the modules. I
tried:

alias dvb dvb-ttpci
options dvb-ttpci init_vpid=0x00a2 init_apid=0x0060
add below dvb-ttpci input ves1820 grundig_29504-491 grundig_29504-401 alps_bsrv2 alps_bsru6 dvb_demux dvb-core

but found the machine would hang when I started dvbstream.. and
kdvb-fe would continuously use 50% of the CPU oops! :(

Running make insmod, however, seems much safer but I would like to load
them at boot time.

Any suggestions gratefully received and please let me know what additional
information that might help track down this problem

Thanks

Chris
