MythTV (www.mythtv.org) gives you parts of this functionality,
and a lot of other extras.

    - Multiple backends (either local or tcp)
    - Multiple frontends
    - Electronic Program Guide w/Automatic Recording
    - Stores the mpeg2 directly
    - Very good looking
