[linux-dvb] Problems locking the signal (Hauppauge WinTV Nexus)

Hi all,

I am using a Hauppauge WinTV Nexus DVB card, with the latest dvb driver
(linuxtv-dvb-1.0.0.tar.gz) on a 2.4.18-14smp kernel (RedHat 8.0).

The driver seems to correctly identify the card:
    [...]

However, it often fails to lock the DVB signal. I am receiving from
satellite 13E (EUTELSAT HotBird), and if I do
    dvbtune -c 0 -f 11623000 -p V -s 27500
it correctly locks the frequency:
    Using DVB card "Alps BSRV2"
    tuning DVB-S to L-Band:1107311616, Pol:V Srate=27500000, 22kHz=off
    polling....
    Getting frontend event
    FE_STATUS: FE_HAS_SIGNAL FE_HAS_LOCK FE_HAS_CARRIER FE_HAS_VITERBI FE_HAS_SYNC
    Bit error rate: 0
    Signal strength: 34695
    SNR: 54484
    FE_STATUS: FE_HAS_SIGNAL FE_HAS_LOCK FE_HAS_CARRIER FE_HAS_VITERBI FE_HAS_SYNC

but if I do
    dvbtune -c 0 -f 11766000 -p V -s 27500
it sometimes work and often fails with:
    Using DVB card "Alps BSRV2"
    tuning DVB-S to L-Band:1107311616, Pol:V Srate=27500000, 22kHz=off
    polling....
    Getting frontend event
    FE_STATUS: FE_HAS_SIGNAL FE_TIMEDOUT FE_HAS_CARRIER
    Not able to lock to the signal on the given frequency

According to http://www.lyngsat.com/hotbird.shtml both 11623 V 27500 and
11766 V 27500 contain a valid signal.
I also tried to measure the signal strength at 11766 V 27500 by using an
apposite hardware device (I think it is a spectrum analyzer), and the
signal seems to be ok.
Moreover, the same DVB card used under windows is always able to lock
the signal at 11766 V 27500...

I tried to search in the list archives, but I did not find any useful
information about my problem. Is this a known issue? Is anyone else
having similar problems? Has anyone any suggestion?
