Yup, had to bump up the timeouts dramatically (factor of 20x) in the poll() to
get it to work.

I suspect it could be signal issues, we're in a sub-optimal position for
reception up here in the hills. :-)
Sometimes I get corrupt output from dvbtune -i which would also imply a bad
signal. Probably time to invest in a booster (worked wonders back in the UK
when the transmitter we were using was quite low powered).
