These are similar symptoms to mine. My initial impression was a
sync problem, with vsync or hsync or both. Then I got this email
(below) that affirmed my theory.

Might I sugggest acquring what is referred to as a TBC, or time base corrector
with sync regeneration. These could probably be found on ebay, or your local
(high end) electronics store.

This is probably due to the fact that the SAA7113 has a low tolerance for
losing video sync, and the I2C interface for the driver is lacking updating
the adc chip.

On the web, the cheapest TBC I can find is about $300.00. On ebay,
there are two, one for $83 and one for $45, but neither mentions sync
regeneration.

The hardware device may be overkill, if the sync tolerance is controlled
in software, as Jason suggests - it would be mean changing some
constants in the kernel module code, to increase tolerance.

If anyone knows if this is possible, to change sync tolerance in the code,
please let me know.

Ciao,
Torsten
