Hm, i updated the kernel to 2.4.9 at the 16. September
(date of diretory)
Upto this date i find recordings. (I deleted almost all broken
records.)
So this almost fits.
But i do have an -almost- intact recording from the 18th..

But sorry, my /var/log/messages "wrapped" meanwhile :-(
So i can't investigate when the new kernel really runs the frist time.

What's with 2.4.10 ?

Why does the problem occur only on faster CPUs?
I testet the same disc =same kernel on a Celeron 700 and the result was
much better.

With the older kernel i too had problems with artefacts.
I thought they came from my "slow" disc ("only" approx. 20MB/s Samsung)

Others complained about audio artefacts too.

How to go further?
Down grading the kernel would be only a temporary solution if at all.
(I need USB support for example)
Upgrading in the hope, that "en passant" the kernel(?) bug was removed
or a bug in driver will "wallpapered" (hidden) and occur more seldom?
Is there a way to at least what is going wrong?
(DMA transfer for example)
