As far as I know tvtv broadcasts the programming data + your vdr serial
number through videotext.
Maybe VDR could generate a fake serial number and act just like one of
these commerical vdrs...

Yep. But I want to program my VDR from my office or wherever I am. And
my local network is not always online...
