This message indicates that VDR was unable to determine whether the DVB hardware
is DVB-S, DVB-C or DVB-T. Which DVB hardware are you using?

There is no "latency timer". I guess what you are seeing is a message like
max. latency time 3 seconds
This means that some function that was called from the main program loop
returned only after 3 seconds. This is just for information/debugging.
