Actually I have a JVC VCR 9600 (tape, bought in the US) which has such a
feature. It records a show, rewinds and automatically sets marks. During
replay it fast forwards over the ads. It actually works pretty well (95%
I'd guess). It even cuts out the theme part of Earth: Final Conflict ;-).
I wonder why nobody ever said anything about that...
